VINEYARD & CLIMATE

Upper Goulburn - Mansfield

At 400 metres above sea level the vineyard enjoys all the essential qualities to produce premium grade fruit. Lots of clear sunny days in summer and autumn provide the necessary photosynthesis for the fruit to fully ripen.

The vineyards proximity to Mt Buller means cool to cold nights with the resultant variation in daily temperatures providing just the right circumstances for the fruit to capture their subtle characters.

Low yields from each plant ensure that the vine is not stressed and that each berry is supplied with all the necessary nutrients. A prolonged dry autumn means a minimum of infestation and disease. The grapes are hand picked thereby reducing berry damage and oxidization of the juice which lessens the need for high levels of sulphur dioxide and preservatives resulting in minimal intervention by the winemaker. Al Fencaros from the Yarra Valley uses his exceptional skills to convert our premium grade fruit into premium grade wine.
